The endearing “Tannant” Pierre Marcotte has died
Pierre Marcotte passed away on Wednesday July 13, 2022, at the age of 83.
He was considered a perfect gentleman, of exemplary elegance, and he will forever remain an endearing “Tanning” in the hearts of Quebecers. Host Pierre Marcotte died on Wednesday, July 13, in the evening, at the age of 83.
Pierre Marcotte was hospitalized at the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie du Québec, and died of complications related to COVID-19, announced Productions Martin Leclerc, which was to produce the show Les après-midi by Pierre Marcotte, which the main interested party was to offer at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal in the fall.
Born November 25, 1938, Pierre Marcotte began his career as a radio host and trained in drama with the late Sita Riddez. After contracts in Granby, Trois-Rivières and Quebec, he became one of the headliners of CKVL, popular Montreal radio.
On television, he was a figurehead at hosts of quiz shows and variety shows. He first co-hosted shows with the late Claude Boulard, before going to the 400 blows with the band of Tannings, at Télé-Métropole (now TVA).
The Tanners were Roger Giguère, Gilles Latulippe, Paolo Noël, Shirley Théroux, Christine Chartrand, Anne Renée and Joël Denis, who entertained viewers from 1973 to 1977 with music and humor, with sketches, games and other skits good kid. Pierre Marcotte leaves to mourn his spouse, Denise Plouffe, as well as his two sons, Pascal (born of his union with the now deceased singer Ginette Ravel, whom Pierre Marcotte had married at the beginning of his career) and Bruno-Pierre. The latter is the result of Mr. Marcotte's relationship with singer and host Shirley Théroux. Pierre Marcotte had also been in a relationship with ex-host Reine Malo for a few years, at the end of the 2000s.
Shirley Théroux also reacted to the departure of her ex-husband and friend, on social networks, late Wednesday evening.
“Pierre has been able to bring you joy and happiness throughout his career. He loved you very much and he had great respect for you his audience. I am touched by your thoughts and your sweet words of sympathy. Bruno-Pierre and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” wrote the lady.
