The Fruitz dating app wants to seduce Quebec
The French dating app Fruitz wants to allow its users to better express their expectations with… fruit.
Are you more cherry, peach, grape or watermelon? If you don't know what we're talking about, it's probably because you don't know the Fruitz dating app yet. Straight from Europe where it conquered Gen Z, this new fruity application has the ambition to seduce Quebecers.
Founded in 2017 by three French people, Julian Kabab, Fabrice Bascoulergue and Arnaud Ruols, Fruitz was acquired by Bumble last February. Already popular in Europe, it is aimed in particular at the youngest users of generation Z, who are more and more numerous on dating apps.
“The idea for Fruitz was born out of my first experience with dating apps, which was a disaster,” Fruitz CEO Julian Kabab said in a statement. Simply put, the lovely person I met had a very different intention than mine. It is not easy to express what one is looking for, for fear of being judged. So nobody was really honest, users were wasting their time.”
The language of fruits
Based on this observation, the founders of the app wanted to set up a simple system to ensure that the person with whom we match is on the same wavelength as us.
“To do this, we created the fruit metaphors to give our community members a playful way to communicate what they are looking for, eliminating the fear of judgment, both for men than for women”, adds Julian Kabab.
If you are looking for true love, you will therefore have to display a cherry, if you just want to have a drink , it will be grapes, watermelon if you are looking for a sexfriend and peach if you want nothing more than a one-night stand.
