The Îles-de-la-Madeleine in thrill mode
Aaaah the Magdalen Islands! The perfect place to relax, recharge your batteries… But with all that wind, waves and cliffs, there can be action too! Here are some activities that will appeal to fans of thrills. strong>Sporty visit to the caves of the Grande-Entrée
The La Salicorne inn at Grande-Entrée offers a highly sporty activity that consists of sneaking into the caves in the rough sea. Watch out, it brews! You have to be in good physical shape, not be afraid of water or tight spaces. La Salicorne provides helmet, wetsuit andguide. It's up to you to bring your courage and good humor.

Exploring even more caves
Cave exploration can also be done independently at several other locations in the archipelago. We think in particular of Gros-Cap or Pointe-aux-Loups. However, you must be able to judge the level of danger yourself according to your physical abilities and the weather conditions. Better to be accompanied by someone who already knows the place before venturing there. And don't forget your wetsuit!
Learn about cliff jumping
Launching off a cliff and landing in the open sea is quite exhilarating. And on the Islands, it's not the cliffs that are missing! But again, caution and judgment must be exercised. Starting from Belle Anse in Fatima, following a path that runs along the cliffs (do not walk too close to the edge!), you will arrive at a place where it is possible to do cliff jumping in the sea from different heights and then ascending using a rope. That said, it can't be improvised, so make sure you're accompanied by an experienced person.
Paddling in the waves
Sea kayaking is an activity of choice in the Magdalen Islands. There are a ton of places to get in the water. Special favorite for Dune-du-Sud and Grande-Entrée. When the sea is rough, thrill seekers will find something to enjoy. You can rent boats at a few places, notably at the Istorlet Nautical Center, or take part in organized group hikes, by La Salicorne for example.
Kitesurfer on the coast
It's obvious, the Îles-de-la-Madeleine are a kitesurfing paradise! There are many windy spots to practice this emblematic sport of the archipelago. To take lessons according to your level and obtain equipment, you can go to Plein vent les Îles, Aerosport les Îles, Kite aux Îles, to name a few. A complete list can be found on the Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine website.
