The Jeux du Québec 2021 unveil their mascot
RIVIÈRE-DU-LOUP – AT fifteen months of the arrival of the flame in Rivière-du-Loup, the organizing committee of the 56th final of the Quebec Games in the winter of 2021 is on Tuesday, unveiled its mascot. He also took the opportunity to launch his Fan Club 2021.
In the mist formed by cannons, smoke bombs, mascot Lou has appeared in the Stage multisport Premier Tech of Rivière-du-Loup, as the screams and laughter of dozens of children in the programme sports-studies of the Commission scolaire de Kamouraska-Rivière-du-Loup. The iconic character is the granddaughter of Piloup, the seal which had been the icon, 50 years ago, the first final of the Games in the Quebec city of Rivière-du-Loup.
The mascot is associated with various legends, the founders of the place. Some of them want that Rivière-du-Loup would take the origins of its toponym from the vast quantity of wolves-sailors who frequented the mouth of the river at a certain time. Even if she is known to love all sports, Lou is a fast swimmer and a diver emeritus.
Since Rivière-du-Loup has continued in the ideas, the ex-olympic athlete in swimming, artistic, Marie-Pier Boudreau-Gagnon, co-chairing the event along with the businessman Christian Pelletier. “This is something big, the Quebec Games, recalled the former athlete from Rivière-du-Loup. In 2015, we had felt the pulse of the population to see if people were ready to receive the Quebec Games. It had been very, very favorable. The co-chair would like a festive atmosphere develops around the Games, since, according to it, the frenzy, the mobilization and encouragement manifested by the population of the host city can make all the difference in the experience for the athletes. It has also indicated that it was time for all interested citizens to volunteer, to register. “Thanks to the volunteers, we will succeed to provide facilities for the quality criteria very high […], she argued. It takes people of Rivière-du-Loup and Kamouraska, who will hand to the dough to succeed in creating an exceptional event.”
The way of the clans, formed around the sports teams, the organisers have launched the Fan Club 2021. “The goal of the Fan Club is to create a wave of mobilization around the Games, explained the director general of the organizing committee of the Jeux du Québec final – Rivière-du-Loup 2021. It is aimed at the general population of Rivière-du-Loup, in the Kamouraska and Quebec.[…] We want to increase awareness of the event, to circulate his name, and its brand image.”
Some 3300 young athletes and 1,500 coaches, chaperones, officials, and missionaries from all over Quebec will get together in Rivière-du-Loup from 26 February to 6 march 2021 for the final of the Jeux du Québec. With a total budget of approximately $ 6 million, the event requires the collaboration of 2500 volunteers, and a quarantine of employees.
