The Louis-Hyppolite La Fontaine tunnel will be completely closed this weekend

The Louis-Hyppolite La Fontaine tunnel will be completely closed in both directions during the night of the 5 to May 6 to carry out a simulation of evacuation. The sections leading to Highway 25 will be blocked from 10:30 p.m. prior to the closure of the tunnel, which will be closed to it from 11:00 p.m. Friday until 8:00 a.m. Saturday.

The Ministère des Transports et la Sustainable Mobility will use smoke bombs inside the tunnel to then test the means of communication in the context of evacuation. The ministry specifies that a white smoke will emanate from the tower on the Montreal side because of this test. A maintenance operation will also take place.

In addition to the tunnel, Souligny Avenue will be closed eastbound from 10:30 p.m. Friday until 5:00 a.m. Monday between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets. The ministry specifies that alternative paths will be set up by Hochelaga and Notre-Dame streets. He invites the public to consult 511 to better plan trips.

This is the second weekend in a month that the tunnel is completely closed.
