The race to the leadership of the conservative Party will officially begin Monday.

The party has now established and published the rules of this race, which include non-refundable registration fee of $200 000.

The leadership candidates will also need 3000 signatures of support from members of the party.

Candidates have until 27 February to register and will have until 25 march to meet the requirements to be fully approved.

The leadership race began unofficially in mid-December, when the current chief Andrew Scheer announced that he would resign as soon as his successor would have been chosen.

Party members will elect their new leader on June 27 at a convention in Toronto.

Here, in alphabetical order, the list of those who are expected to join the race, or who have expressed interest.

  • Rona Ambrose: former interim leader of the conservative Party and mp of the electoral district of Edmonton.
  • Bryan Brulotte: businessman and former candidate for progressive conservative in the constituency of Chelsea, Quebec
  • Jean Charest: former liberal prime minister of Quebec, the former leader of the progressive conservative Party and ex-federal minister.
  • Michael Chong: former minister in the conservative current member of parliament for the riding of Wellington-Halton Hills in Ontario. He has participated in the race in 2017.
  • Gérard Deltell: the current conservative mp for the riding of Louis-Saint-Laurent, Quebec, and former member of provincial parliament.
  • Richard Decarie: aid policy under the former conservative chief Stephen Harper while he was in the opposition. He helped direct the operations of Stephen Harper in Quebec.
  • Michelle Rempel Garner: current conservative member of parliament for the riding of Calgary Nose Hill.
  • Marilyn Gladu: current conservative member of parliament for the riding of Sarnia-Lambton in Ontario.
  • Vincent Guzzo: president of Cinemas Guzzo, who also participates in the reality tv show Dragons ‘Den.
  • Rudy Husny: spokesperson of the conservative Party.
  • Peter MacKay: former minister and conservative member of parliament for a long time in Nova Scotia. He currently lives in Toronto.
  • Erin O’toole: the former minister and conservative current member of parliament for the riding of Durham, in the greater Toronto area. He has participated in the race in 2017.
  • Pierre Poilievre: former minister and conservative current member of parliament for the riding of Carleton in the Ottawa area.
  • Aron Seal: ex-advisor of former prime minister of Canada Stephen Harper.
