The Samuel-de-Champlain Bridge illuminated for the coronation of Charles III
The Samuel-De Champlain Bridge
The Samuel-de-Champlain Bridge will be illuminated in emerald green from sunset Sun until 9.30pm Saturday and Sunday in honor of the coronation of Britain’s new King, Charles III. He became Canada’s monarch and head of state last year after the death of Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022, Europe’s second longest reign in modern history, after King Louis XIV, nicknamed King Louis XIV. Sun.
The Samuel-de-Champlain Bridge was chosen in particular because it is a structure under federal jurisdiction, just like the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. Infrastructure Canada specifies that after 9:30 p.m., the bridge will return to its usual blue-green lighting to reduce the risk of disorientation of birds during the migratory period, until June 15.
It’s not uncommon for the Champlain Bridge to be illuminated for special causes. Last March, it was lit purple in memory of the victims of the tragedy in Amqui, where a dozen people were hit by a ram truck.
