Tulip threatened to close
The owners of the La Tulipe performance hall are facing a request for an injunction that could lead to the closure of the premises.
The company La Tribu explained the situation in a tweet addressed to the mayoress of Montreal, Valérie Plante, and to the mayor of the borough of Plateau-Mont-Royal, Luc Rabouin.
It's been two years since a new neighbor transformed Mr. Latulippe's old warehouses, adjacent to the performance hall, into a home where he lives. According to the press release, it would be an error on the part of the City of Montreal, which authorized the new neighbor to transform this commercial space into an apartment.
Since then, he has complained about the noise, which earned La Tulipe the visit of the police and leading him to “spend [er] fortunes in fees of all kinds to defend himself”. The police even allegedly gave two tickets of $ 1,000 each, during Dumas's performances.
