Around 1:35 p.m. a call came to the central informing of the presence of a possibly armed individual. The police quickly deployed to Lionel-Groulx College and a containment code was launched. The operation is still ongoing.
A wave of establishments affected
The situation at Collège Lionel-Groulx comes on the heels of several similar events that have led to police interventions in schools in recent weeks.
Shots that injured four near Cégep Montmorency in Laval occurred last Friday. According to several police sources, they could be linked to street gang activities. The shooting had led to the confinement of a hundred students as well as College staff, as a preventive measure.
The same day, a 19-year-old man had provoked a major police operation at the Cégep de Saint -Jean-sur-Richelieu, forcing the college to confine itself for more than six hours. The student appeared by videoconference on Saturday morning. He was released early Monday afternoon.
