Sabrina Lavoie La Tribune The company Action Sport Vélo in Windsor was engulfed in flames during the night from Friday to Saturday.
Met on the spot Saturday morning, the commercial tenant and director of the company, Jacques Gosselin, said he was still reassured to be able to see that material damage.
“The tenants of the apartments upstairs were evacuated, but there were no injuries,” he said.
The fire is said to have started towards the rear of the building near the bicycle repair shop. According to Mr. Gosselin, the fire is not linked to operations. He explains that on Friday, the employees did not do any bicycle repairs in order to help move the Carrefour Emploi Jeunesse to the neighboring room, which fortunately was not affected by the fire.
No trace of accelerant was found on site. The criminal cause therefore seems unlikely according to Mr. Gosselin.
Despite the damage caused to the building located at 83 rue Saint-Georges, the company believes it has been able to spare all the bicycles and other sports equipment.
“We will still have to wait until after the insurance to be able to plan the next steps,” said Mr. Gosselin, specifying that the company has been accommodating this place for only a few months.
“We hope to be able to open the doors of the Carrefour Jeunesse Emploi on Monday,” adds the one who is also director of the organization.
