Work at the La Fontaine tunnel: new BIXI stations in Boucherville
Bicycles in a Bixi station.
Three new BIXI bike stations will be installed this week in Boucherville. These are the latest traffic calming measures towards the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel implemented by the provincial government.
These new stations will be placed at the Montarville and Mortagne incentive parking lots as well as at the Boucherville municipal wharf to encourage citizens to opt for public transportation by bus or river shuttle to the island of Montreal.
The office of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Geneviève Guilbault, assured in a press release that eight other bike-sharing stations will be added in Boucherville and Longueuil d’ here the month of August.
The announcement of these new transport options for the population affected by the tunnel repair work was made this Monday by the Minister responsible for Social Solidarity and ;Community Action, Chantal Rouleau. This is not just a coincidence: the 2023 season of river shuttles between Montreal and the South Shore begins today.
